Some tricky technical research forced our instrument connectivity to be delayed almost six months. Thats half a year, learning the original icom receiver on the bridge was not compatible for the DSC functions of the icom AIS transponder , MA 500TR. This meant we had regular DSC but not the full functionality of AIS DSC. To locate a ship on radar and call directly through the press of a button can save time in an emrgancy or provide access to direct communication of any nature. As the AIS Transponder was already installed, I did the research and found the compatible receiver to make it work. there were several, I found the bottom end of the range, retailing at, £900, on eBay for, £200. I then applied cosmetic and technical repairs, some of which were done freely by icom, themselves. I was lucky, as the model is no longer supplied and hasn't been for a couple years but it's working and we're finally properly connected. Thanks, Satronika, for wiring and troubleshooting to the working of this. All that's left now is the mounting. I'll use a Bail mount, placeing besides the raised GPS Map 751xs Chartplotter, in the bridge.
