The ports on the Lower Helm Bridge are important for software and hardware connectivity. Modern devices should be at the crews utilisation for safest passage making. The trawler had 3 new sockets added to her bridge for these reasons. The old sockets were no longer applicable for most devices. Thank you, Electricidad y Mantenimiento, [email protected]. for assistance and electrical services. The lightning shower last night caused pandemonium. Appearing directly above, with no warning of thunder or rain after hours earlier in the day. Winds greatly increased in the eye of cyclonic vigorous cold front. What to do when on board?
Tie up anything loose, keep decks clear. Muster into safe zone of the boat. Switch off systems that will attract the lightning. Check for any leaks and if found, prevent flooding. This lightning shower caused power cuts and the risk of fire but TandEadapt was moored at a pontoon. Properly tied down with springs and mooring lines. If on water, I would find the quickest way out of what's called, 'The danger zone.' With hurricanes anyway. But the same principle applies if in this distress. Move to where the cyclonic winds are less and leave the area of the storm. Preparing for TandEadapts first Television appearance, new flags were imperative. Tatters wouldn't boast the peace of her tides more the weather from her wars. So I changed them, with the reserve flags I kept on the bridge. The story behind TandEadapt and Boney M is the topic. In the journal pages of this block, the documentation of the past 4 years is archived. It was only last year I took the initiative to market my commercial licence as a relative connection to the hits of my mothers discotography like: Exodus Noah's Ark, Boat on a river, Ship Ahoy and many more song of ocean subjects. There's even an album called: 'Oceans of Fantasy,' which I featured, Liz, in a book, after. The Ebook is available in our bookshop. The old flags weren't fit for the crew of TandEadapt, adapting through peace. No,no,no,no,no,no,no....
2 hours on decks for cleaning, before, interviews and crew conditioning, planned this week. There was a small growth of moss on the fore decks, easily cleared with the water and Sebesto.
Wash and Wax, was main cleaning agent, although could not clean external top sides. The size of the Trawler makes this difficult when it's in the water. That being said; there is re - growth under the belly of, TandEadapt. The resurgent behaviour of them barnacles means I have to go under and rub clear again. TandEadapt, was scheduled to be lifted out the water today but we've stayed in the Varadero marina for a few jobs to be completed first. There are 5 Fans used for ventilating the cabins of, TandEadapt. The end of summer leads to their seasonal rest, however, they're filthy.
Fans appear simple but they need maintenance like everything else mechanical on the ship. so how to clean them: 1st avoid tampering with technical parts like the motors. This in mind don't use water or even damp cloths to wipe the grills and the blades. I simply unscrewed the grill and used a paper towel for initial wipes, clearing away the grey fluff. Then a dry cloth was sufficient to restore its shine. (Sometimes corrosion can build up on bladed, in which case, use a scouring pad to clean away.) I went further to cover the silver stickers with black, to suit the other amenities within, TandEadapt. I think the full job of cleaning all 5 Fans might blow me back to dark hours. The evening installing blue backlight USB's was worthwhile, leaving four new USB ports between two private cabins. The need for these modifications proved necessary with the demand for application of new technologies, like iPads and smart phones. The installation was therefore prioritised after I found the ports on EBay for less than the market retail prices. There are two more ports due to be installed. One in the saloon and another in the galley. A different model of 12 volt USB ports and 240 watt sockets is due to be installed on the bridge next week. This will bring TandEadapt into the future as a utilisable vessel for keeping crew and passengers on research, business and pleasure passages. Thanks, Electricidad y Mantenimiento, [email protected]. Grills for preventing insects flying into open hatches left a lot of grime and corrosion. Cleaning was not going to be so simple and I thought it best to remove the grills for cleaning and storing separately. The easily accessible hatches were now more simpler to restore. I used two products. 1st, Sebesto, with a scouring pad, wiping occasionally with a cloth. 2nd, ordinary window cleaner which I applied outside. The results were good enough to flood new light into the gangway. The restored silver of the hatch frame made the cabins and the entire lower deck feel years newer. I'm reluctant to put the grills back on. But I'll clean them and restore them for berths in places where mosquitos and other insects might pose a problem.
This place might miss me, weak. Seven days before, I fly to make my rondevous on the Bavaria 37, to cross the channel; the Z4 is back in the park, with air con and sunroof serviced as was needed in this climate.
TandEadapt, is moored at the front of Varadero, where I'm waiting with her until it's lifted onto dry docks for her coding and refitting. A short documentary of the passage here is on the link below : The first of three new fittings was installed today. The items were found on bargain and the bulbs have been reinstalled as 12 volt LEDs.
